What would you do with an extra hundred million or so, assuming you had the means to do so? There are those who take pleasure in having a garage stuffed with sports vehicles from every decade. Others, such as billionaire Shark Tank investor and owner of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban, would rather fill a hangar or two.

Who exactly is this Mark Cuban?

Mark Cuban is a millionaire in the United States who is most known to the general public for his role as the owner of the Dallas Mavericks. Additionally, he rose to prominence as a result of his participation in the business reality television series Shark Tank. In this show, would-be business owners present their concepts to a group of investors in the hopes of convincing them to invest in their companies.

Cuban is quite the collector of private aircraft in his spare time, when he is not managing NBA careers, producing movies, or investing in Indian crypto startup companies. In point of fact, the Shark in the tank with the most money possesses no fewer than three fins. This is analogous to the situation with Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk, both of whom only have one private jet (albeit both of the Gulfstream G650 variety, which holds the record for the farthest fastest flight in business aviation history).

The three planes owned by Mark Cuban are not your average Cirrus SF50s, each costing an estimated $1.96 million. Instead, the owner of the Mavericks can choose between a Boeing 767-200 designed only for business travel, a Boeing 757 specially outfitted to accommodate a world-class sports team, or a Gulfstream G550 business aircraft.

Although Cuban had his first ever experience on a private plane on a Gulfstream II, he currently owns a Gulfstream G550 that is 22 years old and is worth something in the neighbourhood of $4 billion. In 1999, not long after he made his first billion from the sale of his second firm, Broadcast.com, to Yahoo, he made the purchase of the private plane.

Following the completion of the transaction, Cuban was included in the Guinness Book of World Records. He became known as the person who completed the “biggest single e-commerce transaction” when he purchased the jet online for a total of $40 million. He continues to be the holder of the record until today. Everyone’s experience when they click “purchase” is not the same.

Cuban stated, during an interview with Business Jet Traveler, that he had e-mailed Gulfstream after conducting study on the organization’s website. They made arrangements to provide a demonstration flight for his pilot, who, after completing the flight, extolled its virtues, thereby securing the contract without Cuban ever having stepped foot in his new investment.

The most astute purchase he had ever made.

Cuban stated in a different interview with Men’s Journal Health & Fitness that purchasing the plane was the best financial decision he had ever made because it enabled him to spend more time with the people he cares about.

“Time is the one resource that we simply do not possess, despite the fact that it is plainly exorbitantly expensive. It saves me a tonne of time and effort “Cuban remarked that the most essential things in life are family, time, being nice, and avoiding stress. He added that these four things are the most important.

Additionally, the late Steve Jobs, who was the founder of Apple, preferred to travel using the Gulfstream V. In lieu of a salary increase in 2002, Apple presented the legendary figure in the technology industry with the plane and ten million company shares instead.

The Boeing 757 belonging to the Mavericks

The Boeing 757 is 28 years old and was the second private jet that Mark Cuban purchased for his collection. He paid $36 million for it so that it could be used to transport his NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks. In the year 2000, shortly after purchasing the G550, Cuban made his purchase of the Mavericks. Cuban says he came up with the strategic vision for the plane, specifically focusing on providing space for players taller than seven feet, but he is refusing to offer specifics on how the plane is outfitted. Cuban is also refusing to offer details on how the plane is outfitted.

In addition to that, it provides resources for coaching and connectivity, as well as a weight room, specialised meeting set-ups, and a location for medical treatments. Even though there is no video of the interior of the aircraft, it sounds very much like the concept that NIKE and cabin designer Teague came up with, which was designed to specifically cater to professional athletes and sports teams.

Cuban has also stated that he goes to each and every one of the team’s games with them and that the specially outfitted cabin provides them with an advantage over their opponents.

In a typical year, the Mavericks’ 757-200 will log a total of 600 hours in the air. After the conclusion of the NBA season, Cuban rents out the jet to larger groups that have a requirement for premium seating. The plane received an upgrade in 2006 consisting of Blended Winglet Technology from Aviation Partners Inc., which enabled it to travel further without needing to stop for fuel on long-distance flights.

The Mavericks are currently being transported in the private jet, which has the registration number N801DM, which travels between Dallas and other cities in the Western Conference that also have NBA teams.

The 767 appears to have a bleak future.

It should come as no surprise that the Boeing 767-200, which is 38 years old, was the most expensive aircraft in Cuban’s collection. At first, Cuban purchased the widebody with the intention of using it for high-end charter flights. It features a layout with 98 seats in the business class section. In the meantime, it appears that it has also been enlisted for duty with the Mavericks and is currently registered as N767MV.

The aircraft, which is typically flown by Atlas Air, has been kept in storage at the Marana Pinal Airpark in Arizona since February of this year. Prior to that, it was grounded for a period of five months at the Tampa International Airport in Florida.

Even though there is no evidence that Cuban sold the aircraft, it appears that Cuban’s company, MLW Aviation, sold it to Wyatt Aerospace just one month ago. Cuban’s company was the previous owner. The latter company is an expert in locating and supplying aircraft parts, and its services also include purchasing and dismantling aircraft. There is a good chance that Mark Cuban’s collection of private jets is now missing one of their widebody jets.
